Problems with HTC Touch

After the theft of my SE W810i, I decided to opt for a PDA phone and HTC touch seemd to be promising. But it didnt not prove to be!! After buying a brand new HTC Touch for Rs. 15,900/- and I soon realized that I was missing on important calls. By missing I means I never got the calls but the callers claimed that had ben giving me a call but it was me who maybe ignored their calls!!! So being a gadget geek that I am, I started analyzing the phenomena. The first thing that caught my attention was that the effected time was mainly mornings when phone would be on standby for the past 8 hours through the nite. One morning I decided to call on my number form my Dad’s cell. Woho!!! to my surprise this is what I found. I could hear the ring on my dads cell but could not see incoming call alert not display on my ALL NEW HTC TOUCH phone!! I tried it for few more times and the result was same. Well then I tried called a friend from my HTC touch and after that call again checked if am getting and Incomming call alert… and this time it was…. So my first amd strongest feling was that it has to do something with the standby. I soon rushed to the Service Centre where the Software was upgraded and to my benifit the phone was in a 14day replacement warranty, now I could try it for a couple of more days and if the problem continued I would get a Replacement Letter from the comany. This issue was faced by many customers who had bought the phone recently. The problem seemd to be in the new lot manufactured with the firmware of ROM which is not compatible with Indian Networks.

No prizes to guess that the problems sustained and I was given a replacement letter ( After 5 Day though ). It took another 15-20 days from the dealers end to get a confirmation. The Engineers at service station were not ready to flash the ROM to previous version or Blue Elvis nor were they giving us a Warranty letter mentioning that warranty would stay intact if we downgrade of flash another “Stable and Working” version of firmware.

I decided to give up on HTC and asked the dealer to sell it to someone else compensation some amount from my pocket as well. But I would be desperately waiting for G1 Android phone to be launched in India and till then ill manage with a basic Nokia 2600 Classic.
